About this grant
The Legal Resources Trust provides legal support to nonprofit organizations on issues ranging from legal education and litigation to the administration of justice. Past support from Mott assisted the grantee to provide legal and institutional assistance on how to establish, register, and administer nonprofit organizations; train nonprofits on topics related to nonprofit law; develop a module for life orientation training in high schools on understanding local government; and to produce and disseminate resource materials on nonprofit legal matters. The grant also supported advocacy to improve the legal and fiscal environment for nonprofits in South Africa. This grant will continue to provide support for this project and further assist the grantee to explore partnerships between community advice offices and faith-based institutions. It will also enable the grantee to support legal, therapeutic, advocacy, and education interventions in communities that have experienced severe human rights violations.
