About this grant

Alternative funds, which are monies raised for nonprofits through employee giving, are federations of non-United Way charities organized to solicit contributions at the workplace for each of their member charities. The National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy’s (NCRP) Alternative Funds Assistance Project documents the accomplishments of alternative workplace giving programs.Funding will enable NCRP to compile, assess and distribute information on alternative funds, with research and dissemination activities in six areas: assessing the scope of the alternative funds field; developing data collection tools; collecting data; analyzing data and findings; producing a draft report; and disseminating the final report.During the past 12 years, NCRP has created new alternative funds; provided assistance to existing funds; and offered leadership development, research, publications and communication activities to the field. NCRP’s efforts have supported the creation of more than 25 new alternative funds and federations.
