About this grant

The Southern Environmental Law Center provides regional leadership on water quality issues, as well as technical assistance to state and local groups in Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina.Funding will enable the center to work in each state to improve implementation of the Clean Water Act and related policies, with an emphasis on improving stormwater and wetland programs. During the past two years, the center and its partner groups, have strengthened stormwater standards in North Carolina; improved treatment of wetland resources in South Carolina and Georgia; and increased water quality protections for river segments that harbor threatened aquatic species in Alabama and Tennessee.
