About this grant

This grant provides general purpose support to a leading nongovernmental organization in Bosnia-Herzegovina that promotes tolerance and understanding among youth, advocates for greater participation of youth in decisionmaking processes in schools and communities, and develops volunteerism among youth. Continued Mott support will enable the Youth Communication Center – Banja Luka to support the development and sustainability of networks of secondary school councils throughout the country; encourage youth engagement through improvements in school curricula and local governments’ youth policies; strengthen youth volunteer centers and their networks across the country; integrate career counseling and entrepreneurship training in schools; and develop regional youth-led reconciliation initiatives. Since 2014, the grantee strengthened entity-level networks of secondary school student councils and helped national and local government agencies in Bosnia-Herzegovina develop and promote volunteerism, including establishing a new network and support center for volunteerism in Republika Srpska. Other ongoing activities included operating a youth-run radio station; hosting a range of nonformal, community-based education programs; and providing psychosocial assistance to vulnerable groups through direct counseling and volunteer programs. The grantee is based in Banja Luka, Bosnia-Herzegovina.
