About this grant

The goal of the project is to reestablish social and community life in isolated and war-affected regions in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina by supporting grassroots, volunteer-based citizen initiatives and civic organizations.Multiyear funding will enable CARE USA to provide support to 16 community-based non-governmental organizations (NGOs), particularly small, volunteer-based associations already active within their communities. Activities will include providing intensive, hands-on technical assistance; offering specific training opportunities by skilled trainers that are tailored to the needs of grantees; providing small grants, up to $4,600, to complement training and technical assistance; and integrating grantees into networks to facilitate exchanges, study visits and mentor relationships.During the past two years, the project provided support to seven NGOs in Croatia, seven NGOs in Bosnia and Herzegovina and six NGOs to implement cross-border projects; encouraged networking; and facilitated formal and informal capacity-building opportunities for grantees.
