About this grant

The project goal is to reestablish social and community life in Bosnia-Herzegovina and to strengthen the nonprofit sector as a vehicle for public participation. To this end, CARE USA will strengthen three Roma nonprofits and increase Roma youth participation in civil society. CARE USA will conduct research on the situation of Roma youth in Bosnia-Herzegovina and use this research to plan relevant training, technical assistance, and small grants to partner organizations. During 2006-2007, the project focused on building the capacity of selected Roma nonprofit organizations and a network of over 25 other Roma organizations to participate effectively in national- and local-level policy development and advocacy on behalf of Roma communities, particularly on programs and policies aimed at poverty reduction. This project is implemented by CARE USA through the offices of CARE International in Banja Luka, Bosnia-Herzegovina.
