About this grant

The Sierra Club Foundation’s mission is to explore, enjoy, and protect the wild places of the earth as well as promote the responsible use of natural ecosystems and resources. Central to the ability of communities to provide for themselves and protect their environment is creating a fair global trading system, which includes meaningful and enforceable environmental standards. This renewal grant for the Responsible Trade Program will support the continued efforts of the Sierra Club Foundation to raise awareness and engage the public, media, and policymakers on the environmental and social impacts of trade liberalization. For the next two years, the Responsible Trade Program will educate, organize, and mobilize its grassroots membership network to support environmentally responsible trade, engage the media and the public about the impact of current trade policies on the environment and about responsible policy alternatives, and build alliances with environmental and allied organizations.
