About this grant
Shelter of Flint, Inc., provides services to about 1,300 homeless clients per year, the majority of which are homeless primarily due to economic circumstances. The principal goal of the agency is to assist these families in achieving stability through a continuum of care ranging from crisis prevention to elimination of the root causes of homelessness. In 2013, the grantee consolidated administrative and service offices and expanded available beds from approximately 50 to 75 by purchasing the Cedar Street Children’s Center from the Children’s Welfare Society of Flint for one dollar. This renewal grant will provide general purpose support for the grantee, which will also offset costs associated with their recent facility move.
