About this grant
The Intermediary Support for Organizing Communities (ISO) program was established in 1979 to increase citizen participation in democratic processes, especially in low-income communities. Since then, it has evolved into a community organizing strategy that seeks to build and strengthen the institutional capacity of emerging community-based and neighborhood-development organizations.Funding will enable the fund to provide grants, training and technical assistance to emerging community organizations on Native American reservations in the continental United States. Its role as an intermediary is to identify emerging groups for support, administer a small grants program, coordinate the provision of grantee technical assistance, maintain program data and records, assist project evaluation activities and participate in network meetings.The Seventh Generation Fund for Indian Development, a participant in the program since 1990, is one of six intermediary organizations receiving grants as part of Mott’s 2003 ISO program.
