About this grant
The Intermediary Support for Organizing Communities (ISO) program serves low-income neighborhoods by providing seed grants and technical assistance to emerging community-based organizations. The program was established in 1979 to increase citizen participation in democratic processes, especially in low-income communities. Since then, it has evolved into a community organizing strategy that seeks to build and strengthen the institutional capacity of neighborhood-development organizations.Funding will enable the Seventh Generation Fund for Indian Development to provide grants, training and technical assistance to emerging community organizations on Native American reservations in the continental United States. Its role as an intermediary is to identify emerging groups for support, administer a small grants program, coordinate grantee technical assistance, organize grantee meetings, maintain program data and records, assist with project evaluation activities and participate in network meetings.The fund has been a participant in the program since 1990 and is one of six intermediary organizations receiving grants as part of Mott’s 2004 ISO program.
