About this grant

The Centre for Peace, Nonviolence and Human Rights Osijek has promoted tolerance and citizen participation in the democratic process and community life since the beginning of the war in Croatia in 1992. Through various programs, the center promotes volunteerism and development of the nonprofit sector; supports community-based peace building; and works to improve ethnic relations.Multiyear funding will enable the center to strengthen the role of the nonprofit sector in community development and resource mobilization in the war-affected region of eastern Croatia, and further develop programs to address the past, including monitoring war crimes trials, assisting victims and witnesses to participate in war crimes trials, and cooperating with other human rights organizations in the Western Balkans to create regional approaches to truth, justice and reconciliation.
