About this grant
The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities developed the State Fiscal and Low-Income Initiatives Project in 1996 to strategically analyze federal and state budget priorities and fiscal policies, and programs that affect low-income populations. It also works to promote policy initiatives that help low-income working families. Multiyear funding will enable the center to provide technical assistance to groups participating in the State Fiscal Analysis Initiative; help shape national debate on the federal revenue system; and strengthen programs that help low-income families lift themselves out of poverty.Recent accomplishments included advocating for a $2 billion increase in the Child Tax Credit; educating policymakers about families not reached by the previous credit; and contributing to reform of the federal food stamp programs.
