About this grant
Friends of the Earth International is a worldwide federation of 71 national environmental organizations, working collectively to address global environmental issues. This grant will provide continuing support for the Friends of the Earth International’s work on international financial institutions. The focus of its work is on expanding civil society’s role in the decisionmaking processes of the international financial institutions; ensuring that there are effective safeguard policies and open, transparent decisionmaking processes at these institutions; shifting these institutions’ lending portfolios away from financing fossil fuel to renewable energy and other alternatives; and promoting alternative development approaches that contribute to sustainable development. The specific policy focus in this grant period will be on energy for sustainable societies, sustainable regional integration and infrastructure, and international coordination and communication.
