About this grant
Public Radio International (PRI) launched "The World" in 1996 to deliver international news and insights to American listeners. In partnership with the British Broadcasting Company and WGBH/Boston, PRI’s goal for the program is to cover news that clarifies international issues and helps Americans understand how they affect and are affected by global events.Multiyear funding will enable the program to explore topics that include the impact of globalization on the environment; critical issues related to the global economy; how people in the U.S. and around the world perceive, pursue and practice democracy; international security issues; the Muslim world; and issues facing the African continent."The World" is currently carried by 189 public radio stations and draws an accumulated weekly audience of more than 2.1 million. A complete daily broadcast is available online, 24 hours a day and attracts visitors from around the world, including Japan, Australia, the United Kingdom and Mexico.
