About this grant
This grant will enable the American Youth Policy Forum (AYPF) to focus on middle and high school youth by conducting a series of learning events to inform policymakers, researchers and practitioners of the importance and role of afterschool in creating an optimal system for older youth; developing a compendium that describes effective and innovative afterschool programs for older youth who live in low-income communities or who are underserved by the education system; and continuing its dissemination of Helping Youth Succeed Through Out-of-School Time Programs, a summary of research on the impact of afterschool programs. The goal of the AYPF is to provide policymakers and their senior aides with information and experiences useful in the development of an effective youth education program and a training and transition-to-employment system for the U.S. that includes afterschool, school reform, internships, national community service and other experience-based learning methodologies.
