About this grant
American Friends of the Czech Republic was founded in 1995 to serve as a bridge between the Czech people and the American public and supports educational, cultural and humanitarian programs.Funding will support activities that include completing the T.G. Masaryk Memorial statue and park project; processing ongoing donations from individuals and organizations for Czech flood relief efforts; providing assistance in restoration projects related to the Czech floods; building the Masaryk endowment for educational programs and scholarships; conducting educational exchange programs with Czech and American universities; and serving as the voice for various U.S. groups encouraging stronger ties with the Czech Republic.Accomplishments during the past year included raising more than $1.2 million for the Masaryk project; establishing scholarship programs with four Czech and American universities; supporting humanitarian efforts for flood victims in the Czech Republic; and strengthening several Czech non-governmental organizations such as Nadace Via and the 97 Vision Foundation.
