About this grant

The European Foundation Centre is an independent membership association of foundations and corporate funders dedicated to promoting organized philanthropy in Europe and internationally. In 2010, the grantee carried out a range of activities including organizing the first Foundation Week in Brussels, professionalizing the European philanthropic sector through developing new capacity building initiatives, supporting the work of several funder interest groups and networks, representing European foundations at the European Union-level, and launching a new Web site. In 2011, the grantee will introduce and implement a new strategic plan for the period 2011-2016. The new plan will focus on: 1) raising the collective voice of the European philanthropic sector; 2) creating an enabling environment for independent funders; 3) encouraging the professionalization of foundation staff and boards; and 4) increasing the visibility of European foundations. Established in 1989 by seven of Europe’s leading foundations, the European Foundation Centre currently serves over 200 core members.
