About this grant

The European Foundation Centre is an independent membership association of foundations and corporate funders dedicated to promoting organized philanthropy in Europe and internationally. In 2011, the grantee carried out a wide range of activities including organizing a successful autumn assembly with the donors and foundations networks in Europe, working with six European foundations to purchase a building in the center of Brussels that will become the focal point of European philanthropy, and assuming responsibility for GrantCraft in partnership with the Foundation Center. In 2012, the grantee will continue to focus on: 1) raising the collective voice of the European philanthropic sector; 2) creating an enabling environment for independent funders; 3) encouraging the professionalization of foundation staff and boards; and 4) increasing the visibility of European foundations. Additionally, the grantee will revise the strategy and coordination of its current interest groups and reinforce its communications and advocacy efforts around the European Foundation Statute. Established in 1989 by seven of Europe’s leading foundations, the European Foundation Centre today serves over 200 members.
