About this grant

This grant will enable Independent Sector to encourage philanthropy, volunteering and citizen action by providing leadership on critical and emerging nonprofit sector issues; providing leadership on societal issues that encourage civic participation; and establishing new relationships within the sector and between the business, government and nonprofit sectors.Funding will support specific activities that include hosting a landmark conference on key nonprofit sector issues; addressing public policy and government relations, nonprofit sector ethics and accountability, emerging and strategic issues, and communications and marketing; and continuing the efforts of the Panel on the Nonprofit Sector related to proposed federal policy initiatives.During the past year, key accomplishments included helping to shape federal government understanding and oversight of the nonprofit sector; implementing and convening the Panel on the Nonprofit Sector to inform the public policy debate on the sector; and strengthening internal operations and management.
