About this grant
This grant provides continued general purpose support to Independent Sector, a national membership organization of more than 600 foundations, corporations, and voluntary organizations dedicated to encouraging philanthropy, volunteering, and citizen action. For close to 30 years, the grantee has played a central role in providing the nonprofit community with a collective "national voice" to policymakers, the media, and the public-at-large. As a result of its robust record of accomplishments and strong membership, the grantee has achieved leadership standing and is instrumental in shaping an environment conducive to the missions of nonprofit organizations. During the grant period, Independent Sector’s work will revolve around three main goals: 1) strengthening the nonprofit community’s impact on public policy; 2) building a more effective, transparent, and accountable nonprofit community; and 3) promoting collaboration around overarching interests and issues.
