About this grant

The program goal is to increase citizens’ involvement in resolving key environment and sustainable development issues in Romania. To this end, the Romanian Environmental Partnership Foundation will support nongovernmental organizations and community groups to effectively protect the environment, preserve and develop their natural heritage, and promote sustainable community development in Romania. In addition, the foundation will strengthen the capacity of local and national nonprofit organizations to carry out environmental advocacy and watchdog activities. Also, the foundation will focus on improving its institutional and financial sustainability. In 2006-2008, the foundation provided grants to over 150 nonprofits and diversified its funding base by raising over 25 percent of its income from local sources. The foundation was established in 1998 with the mission to strengthen the environmental movement and promote sustainable community development in Romania.
