About this grant
VIA Foundation is an indigenous grantmaking organization in the Czech Republic that focuses on strengthening the country’s nonprofit sector, philanthropy and community development. In addition to grantmaking programs, the foundation actively participates in several international programs that encourage the exchange of experiences in developing philanthropy and the nonprofit sector throughout Central/Eastern Europe.Multiyear funding will enable the foundation to focus on programs in community development, non-governmental organization (NGO) development and philanthropy development. Objectives include providing grants and technical assistance to communities and NGOs in the Czech Republic that address local issues; providing support and capacity-building opportunities for Czech NGOs to increase the effectiveness of their work and adaptation to the changing economic, social and funding environments; and promoting corporate and individual philanthropy.Recent accomplishments included providing more than $2 million in grants to Czech NGOs; establishing the VIA Foundation Czech Heritage Society; and participating in the Transatlantic Community Foundation Network Program.
