About this grant

The Project on Ethnic Relations is dedicated to reducing ethnic tensions in Central and Southeast Europe and the former Soviet Union. Project staff works with political leaders to promote alternatives to conflicts, assists in the development of indigenous institutions to deal with ethnic tension, influences opinion leaders, and trains experts in this field. In 2008-2009, the grantee will pursue four major programs: (1) mediating ethnic conflicts, with a particular focus on relations between Kosovo and Serbia; (2) exploring regional issues, such as international responses to ethnic conflict in the postcommunist space; (3) building confidence between Romani communities and majority populations; and (4) training a new generation of experts.
