About this grant

BoardSource provides governance training, information and leadership opportunities to U.S. nonprofit agencies. Since its establishment in 1988, it has assisted more than 60,000 nonprofit board members and leaders with advice, information and assistance.Funding will enable BoardSource to disseminate findings from a three-year study on alternative governance; release the 2004 Nonprofit Governance Index; convene the 2004 BoardSource Leadership Forum; expand its electronic product offerings; and focus its global program on capacity building and licensing.Accomplishments during the past year included collaborating with the Council on Foundations to develop and disseminate the "Guide for New Community Foundation Board Members"; adapting publications to the specific needs of individual organizations; responding to concerns and questions about fiscal accountability; launching a Web site; conducting a survey to expand knowledge of governance practices; and publishing and disseminating a survey on nonprofit governance practices in Hungary.
