About this grant

This grant provides continued general purpose support to BoardSource, an organization that provides governance training, information, and leadership opportunities to increase the effectiveness of the nation’s 2.3 million nonprofit agencies. The grantee supports, trains, and educates more than 60,000 nonprofit board leaders from across the country each year. Recent accomplishments include the publication of the "BoardSource Nonprofit Governance Index 2012", the establishment of a learning lab of nonprofit governance, and an increase in board members trained from a few hundred in 2010 to almost 6,000 in 2012. The grantee also launched BoardSource Academy, which offers certificate programs for nonprofit leaders, board chairs, and governance trainers. Over 2013-2014, the grantee will continue to pursue the three strategic goals of its 2012-2016 plan: 1) build high impact educational and involvement programs to scale; 2) inspire and diversify a network of nonprofit leaders; and 3) expand the grantee’s reach by eliminating barriers to participation.
