About this grant
This grant will enable the Centers for Civic Initiatives – Tuzla to encourage citizens to participate in the development of their communities and the political processes shaping the future of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The centers work with local communities and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) throughout the country.Multiyear funding will support activities that include organizing local public policy advocacy campaigns based on priorities identified by citizens and local NGOs; working with citizens and local NGOs in 13 municipalities to raise citizen awareness about the need to participate in decisionmaking; monitoring municipal assembly sessions and state-level parliaments; and developing a nonpartisan, get-out-the-vote campaign aimed at young people.Recent accomplishments included raising public awareness and developing local advocacy skills through educational workshops and discussion groups; and developing, strengthening and expanding networks and coalitions, including domestic election monitoring.
