About this grant
This grant supports the active participation of people in the development of their communities and in the political processes shaping the future of Bosnia and Herzegovina. During 2013-2014, the Centers for Civic Initiatives – Tuzla will monitor the work of the country’s state- and entity-level governments and parliaments, provide financial and technical support to other nonprofits to engage in advocacy and awareness-raising campaigns, and organize activities and tools that allow citizens to participate in decisionmaking. During the past two years, the grantee issued more than 190 monitoring reports on the work of Bosnia’s state- and entity-level governments and parliaments and cantonal assemblies, disseminated this data and analyses through a dedicated Web site, carried out annual assessments of the levels and quality of citizen participation in decisionmaking, organized national-level advocacy campaigns on key issues facing local communities in Bosnia, launched a new Internet-based television station highlighting civil society initiatives in Bosnia, and provided $2.7 million in grants to nonprofits.
