About this grant
This grant supports the active participation of people in the development of their communities and in the political processes shaping the future of Bosnia and Herzegovina. During 2017-2018, the Centers for Civic Initiatives – Tuzla will monitor the work of the country’s state- and entity-level governments and parliaments, provide financial and technical support to other nonprofits to engage in advocacy and awareness-raising campaigns, and organize activities and tools that allow citizens to participate in decisionmaking. During the past two years, the grantee issued 149 monitoring reports covering the work of federal and state ministries, parliamentary committees and working groups, and public officials. Through over 850 articles and many public events, these reports were widely disseminated and discussed with citizens and key stakeholders. The grantee also carried out annual assessments of the levels and quality of citizen participation in decisionmaking, organized national-level advocacy campaigns on key issues facing local communities in Bosnia, and provided grants for advocacy and institutional development to 19 nonprofits across 12 key sectors. The grantee is based in Tuzla, with additional offices in other major cities in Bosnia.
