About this grant
In 2001, the MDB and ECA Reform Campaign, conducted by Mani Tese, began to expand its agenda to address the longer-term strategy of creating a future governance structure for international financial relations that addresses both international financial and trade institutions. Through this campaign, Mani Tese has taken the lead in global discussions about future visions of these institutions.Multiyear funding will allow the campaign to expand its focus on the role of private-sector lending in the broader context of financial liberalization and deregulation being advanced by the World Bank and the World Trade Organization; and examine environmental and social risks resulting from international financial institutions’ support of expanded private-sector lending.Accomplishments during the past two years included establishing increased credibility with international financial institutions and policymakers; developing credible research and analysis that catalyzed links between international finance and trade issues; and strengthening the organization’s capacity to collaborate with partner non-governmental organizations in the European Union.
