About this grant

During the past several years, Mani Tese’s Campaign for the Reform of the World Bank has significantly strengthened its capacity to address issues related to multilateral development banks, export credit agencies and foreign direct investment. The campaign has focused its work on two facets of international development – development finance and international public and private finance. This has resulted in a broader and more relevant framework for research and analysis. This grant will enable the campaign to focus on the increasing role of private sector lending in the broader context of financial liberalization and deregulation being advanced by international financial institutions and the World Trade Organization; the environmental and social implications of international financial institution support of expanded private sector lending; the potential role of new financial actors to encourage mainstream sustainable development in international financial flows; the restructuring of development finance; and the relationship between the international finance and trade policy agendas.Mani Tese, an Italian non-governmental development organization created in 1964, works at the national and international levels to further justice, solidarity and respect among peoples.
