About this grant

The project goal is to develop and promote volunteerism and public participation in community life in Bosnia-Herzegovina. Through its Centre for Development and Promotion of Voluntary Work, the Association for Psychosocial Help and Development of Voluntary Work enables communities to address critical social needs by mobilizing human resources within the community. During the grant period, the grantee will provide training to mentors who then work with volunteers in nongovernmental organizations, schools, and public institutions, and the grantee will focus on strengthening local structures to support sustained volunteerism in surrounding municipalities. In 2012-2013, the grantee expanded its volunteerism programs to more schools in Bosnia-Herzegovina and built the capacity of volunteers and mentors to address specific issues, such as environmental protection, human rights, and aging. The grantee also worked with other nonprofits in Bosnia-Herzegovina to promote volunteerism and improve the legal and policy framework for volunteerism. The grantee is based in Gracanica, Bosnia-Herzegovina.
