About this grant

Helping low-income women in New Mexico increase their income through good jobs is the mission of Southwest Creations Collaborative (SCC). The collaborative is a micro-enterprise that specializes in the manufacturing of goods ranging from clothing and home accessories to toys and healthcare products. It provides jobs with consistent income, workplace flexibility, affordable onsite day care, and support for families in areas such as leadership development, health care, and parenting and money-saving skills.Multiyear funding will enable SCC to increase contract revenue to provide better and increased employment opportunities; formalize the family support programs to increase family and community stability; and develop a pilot project: Creating an Infrastructure for Job Retention and Community.Accomplishments during the past year included acquiring three new production contracts; installing a software program to establish production goals; refining its bidding process and implementing minimum order requirements; and creating assistant manager positions on the production floor.
