About this grant

The objective of the project is to enable the Land Trust Alliance to work with the more than 100 land trusts that operate within the Great Lakes basin to identify their challenges and goals and provide them with the training and tools needed for effective and lasting protection of the region’s imperiled natural areas.Multiyear funding will support activities that include developing partnerships among groups of land trusts with similar conservation goals; conducting leadership development workshops; implementing a three-tiered approach of training workshops, on-site quality assessment services and longer-term organizational mentoring; administering a Great Lakes Advancement grant program to assist land trusts with organizational development and programmatic capacity; and offering training workshops and seminars throughout the Midwest.Recent achievements included assisting land trust organizations in the region to identify their challenges and goals; providing training and technical assistance; and awarding matching grants and scholarships to Great Lakes land trusts.
