About this grant
Currently in its 12th year, the State Fiscal Analysis Initiative (SFAI) was created to strengthen the contributions of state-level organizations in policy debates by enhancing their ability to improve the balance and quality of fiscal policy discussions, and ultimately to improve the policy outcomes for the most vulnerable members of society. Organizations participating in the initiative analyze critical budget and tax issues; help policymakers and others understand fiscal policy; and disseminate information that can be used to shape policies that affect the lives of low-income families.Multiyear funding will enable the center to continue analyzing budget and fiscal proposals and educating the public about their implications; publishing a “State of Working Maine” report; and providing research support to develop strategies for community development in a region of Maine with the highest indicators of economic disadvantage. This is one of 10 Mott grants recommended to state organizations as part of the SFAI.
