About this grant
This is one of ten grants recommended to state organizations to participate in the State Fiscal Analysis Initiative. The Ford, Annie E. Casey, and Mott Foundations created the initiative in 1992 to build state capacity for timely, credible, and accessible tax and budget analysis on behalf of low- and moderate-income families. The Maine Center for Economic Policy joined this effort in 1994 and has grown into a leader in state fiscal policy analysis in its home state. During this grant period, the grantee will prepare and disseminate analyses on a range of state fiscal, budget, and economic issues, with a particular emphasis on policies affecting low- and moderate-income households. Additional activities planned for the grant period include coalition building and strengthening organizational capacity. Related to this project is a grant to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities — another longstanding Mott grantee — to provide technical assistance to all 36 State Fiscal Analysis Initiative sites as part of this initiative.
