Diploma Plus is a two-stage program model that reconnects dropouts, near dropouts and students who have not reached their potential in traditional high schools to education and employment options. For almost a decade, Diploma Plus has been working to create pathways that help vulnerable youth finish school prepared for both college and career opportunities. Multiyear funding will support efforts to further develop the expertise of teachers at Diploma Plus schools in strategies-based and competency-based instruction and assessment; integrate a stronger and more systematic future focus into the Diploma Plus experience and curriculum; and build the knowledge and capacity of instructional leaders.Recent accomplishments included providing technical assistance to a network of 17 sites; developing a long-term sustainability strategy to secure and identify resources for future program expansion; and commissioning a third-party evaluation of the project’s effectiveness.
