About this grant

Established in 1993, CIVICUS: World Alliance for Citizen Participation is an international alliance working to strengthen citizen action and civil society throughout the world, especially in areas where participatory democracy and citizens’ freedom of association are challenged. It works with members in over 145 countries to strengthen civil society. The grantee strives to create opportunities for collaborative knowledge generation and collective reflection among members; build partnerships with global leaders in technology to bring the latest tools to help members connect, interact, and engage in global dialogue; and participate in notable international fora to advance the interests of civil society in global discourse and to affect change in areas of pressing global concern like climate change, financial reform, and sustainable development. This grant increase will provide additional support for the 2016 International Civil Society Week and the CIVICUS World Assembly, which will be held in April 2016 in Bogota, Colombia.
