About this grant

The Council of Michigan Foundations is a statewide association of grantmakers that provides its members with educational programs, technical assistance, networking opportunities, advocacy with policymakers and regulators, and collaborative work with leading national and regional philanthropic associations. Highlights in 2010 include offering 103 different educational programs for members, hosting the Michigan Land and Prosperity Summit, and organizing a strong Michigan delegation to the annual Foundations on the Hill event. Over 2011-2012, the grantee will focus on membership engagement and retention, new member recruitment, and organizational capacity through pursuing four main objectives: 1) advocacy for legislative goals; 2) operating a networked learning community; 3) supporting membership collaboration on critical issues; and 4) operating a model regional association. The grantee will also continue to host the Office of Foundation Liaison, work with Michigan’s governor to establish an Office of Urban and Metropolitan Initiatives, and support the Michigan Land Use Funders Group.
