About this grant
Umtapo Centre provides education and training programs that promote peace, human rights, and antiracism to young people, community-based organizations, and community leaders in South Africa. It establishes peace clubs in schools and universities to build a youth leadership founded on a democratic, human rights-based culture. Past support has enabled the grantee to conduct workshops in poor communities on antiracism and peace, introduce peace clubs in schools and other areas where young people converge, and establish peace clubs at universities. This grant will allow the grantee to continue promoting peace and antiracism by providing training to youth in schools and universities, conducting awareness-raising workshops in communities, and producing educational publications. It will also introduce advice desks in all its offices to respond to human rights and anticorruption issues and strengthen partnerships with like-minded institutions locally and abroad.
