About this grant
The Sustainable Deal Project was designed to help six organizations from Washington and Oregon develop creative, democratic solutions to address economic challenges in the Pacific Northwest. Likewise, organizations affiliated with the Industrial Areas Foundation (IAF) were also working to create re-employment opportunities and expand jobs in Washington and Oregon by following the employer-driven model of Project QUEST. In response, the Justice Alliance Education Fund identified several potential employment opportunities, including jobs in energy conservation and efficiency and in water usage and quality.Multiyear funding will enable the fund to assume responsibility for building a more coordinated network among the IAF-affiliated organizations in the Northwest. Goals include organizing nine Leadership Institutes and two leadership retreats each year; conducting three organizer retreats each year; and providing on-site consultation three times per year to each local organization.
