About this grant
The Ford, Casey, and Mott foundations created the State Fiscal Analysis Initiative in 1992 in order to build state capacity for timely, credible, and accessible tax and budget analysis on behalf of low- and middle-income families. The continued devolution of funds and decisionmaking responsibility to the states heightens the need for analyses of fiscal and budget policies at the state level. Arise Citizens’ Policy Project joined the initiative in 1993 and has grown to be a respected voice on policy issues in Alabama. Though a relatively small organization, its work has focused on establishing credibility and building grassroots support for fiscal and low-income population policy issues. Related to this project is a grant to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, which provides technical assistance to all the state organizations participating in this initiative.
