About this grant

Kentucky Waterways Alliance works to address water-quality and river-protection issues throughout the state of Kentucky. The goal of the alliance is to build effective partnerships to protect and restore the state’s more than 89,000 miles of rivers and streams.Multiyear funding will enable the alliance to provide technical, administrative, financial and networking assistance to local groups; ensure consistent interpretation and implementation of the Clean Water Act; endeavor to improve the environmental literacy of citizens; strengthen the collective effort of those working to protect and restore the state’s water resources; and continue building internal organizational capacity.Among the alliance’s recent accomplishments are serving on the Governor’s Black Water Task Force, encouraging the development of 16 watershed-level organizations and completing a strategic planning process.
