About this grant
This grant will enable the Workforce Alliance to advocate for more effective federal policies that will help more workers get the skills they need and more businesses get skilled workers. The alliance — a coalition of experienced leaders from the field of workforce development — serves as a center for the grassroots training of practitioners and employers in the national debate about welfare-to-work and workforce development policies, and acts as a clearinghouse of information for practitioners, employers and policymakers.Multiyear funding will support activities that include expanding the coalition and mobilizing local leaders to increase awareness of the workforce development field among federal representatives and other national policymakers; tracking Washington policymaking and debates as they relate to workforce education and training; and engaging the broader public around issues related to government investments in worker education and training.Accomplishments during the past two years included expanding organizational capacity; building the national network; engaging in policy development in 25 states with participating workforce coalitions; establishing advisory councils; and providing recommendations on workforce issues still being considered by Congress.
