About this grant
The program goal is to help residents from economically depressed settlements revitalize their communities. During the past five years, the Regional Development Agency "Donbass" has helped engage local community residents and involve them in the renewal of 19 economically depressed settlements in four cities of eastern Ukraine.Funding over the next three years will enable the agency to introduce its community organizing and development approaches to three small towns and three rural districts with populations of up to 100,000 each. Activities will include training community leaders; convening a series of public participation workshops in each location; mapping community needs and resources; identifying key community issues; working with local leaders to design and implement development projects; and promoting citizen participation in community life through various informational channels. The agency also will share its community organizing and development approaches by providing learning opportunities to other development agencies in Ukraine and Belarus.
