About this grant
The Northwest Federation of Community Organizations was established in 1993 by four statewide organizations in Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington to address regional issues that affect low-income communities. The federation works with grassroots organizations to improve their capacity to campaign for good-paying jobs and social supports for children, the elderly and the poor.Multiyear funding will enable the federation to play a leadership role in strengthening member organizations, the regional network and national collaborations; increase the effectiveness of affiliates and allies by providing policy analysis for issue campaigns; build the management and technological skills base of affiliates; and build the capacity of community-based organizations to identify and train leaders, improve their effectiveness, and run successful issue campaigns.Accomplishments during the past two years included holding three statewide, leadership conferences; conducting 92 local leadership training sessions; working to reinstate Medicaid adult dental coverage in Idaho; and advocating against premium increases for children’s Medicaid in the state of Washington.
