About this grant
This grant provides support to the Genesee Area Focus Fund to implement Summer Youth Initiative and TeenQuest, which provides job training and employment opportunities for Genesee County teens in partnership with area employers. Teens first participate in the TeenQuest component, a five-week pre-employment training program, and then are eligible to apply for employment at the Summer Youth Initiative job fair. Programs such as this are particularly necessary in Flint given its current water crisis, because educational and enrichment opportunities are important interventions for teens to help mitigate the long-term impacts of such exposure.
