About this grant
The Trust for Community Outreach and Education is a national organization that is made up of six regional affiliates that work mainly with rural communities. Its main goal is to strengthen the voice of the rural poor to engage effectively with local governments and to increase food security in these rural areas. Previous support from Mott enabled the grantee to strengthen poor people’s voices and leadership capacities in rural communities through training and mentorship support. The grantee supported the establishment of associations and assisted people to become self-employed through agricultural initiatives. Support over the next two years will enable the grantee to continue to strengthen community leadership through training, mentoring, exchange visits, and mutual learning and support. The grantee will also continue to advocate government to provide access to land for poor people and improve access to opportunities for sustainable farming.
