About this grant

The Trust for Community Outreach and Education is a national organization made up of regional affiliates that work mainly in rural communities in South Africa. Its purpose is to build strong movements of the rural poor by strengthening their leadership structures to enable them to organize and coordinate activities of rural communities. Past support has enabled the grantee to support movements of the rural poor in articulating their need for land and other resources to increase food security. It has also trained women farmers on various topics related to farming. Mott support over the next two years will assist the grantee to strengthen its affiliates and to provide funding and related resources, hands-on support, and information to assist them to give voice to the rural poor. It will also raise public awareness about the challenges faced by rural communities in securing land for agricultural use.
