About this grant
The Trust for Community Outreach and Education is a national organization that was established in 1983 to promote the development of poor communities in rural areas. It has regional affiliates in six provinces that represent the voice of the poor. The grantee strengthens leadership and supports affiliate members to organize and coordinate activities of rural communities. Past support has enabled the grantee to launch a national movement of rural women, support efforts to access land and marine resources, and assist farmworkers to engage effectively with government and farmowners on issues of human rights on farms. This grant will allow the grantee to extend its work to rural organizations and associations in other provinces, support the establishment of a national rural movement led by its affiliates, strengthen local leadership to lead campaigns and engage in strategic discussions with local officials in order to improve their quality of life, and promote the economic transformation of rural communities.
