About this grant

Since 2000, the Gulf Restoration Network has worked to protect the Gulf of Mexico’s aquatic resources by providing technical assistance to local environmental organizations; assisting member groups to address local issues; connecting members to national and regional efforts; and facilitating communication between member organizations.Multiyear funding will support activities that include building the capacity of local environmental groups, particularly in Louisiana and Mississippi, to address water quality issues; strengthening organizations to address wetlands protection at the local and regional levels; working to improve the Gulf’s fisheries; and building the network’s own organizational capacity.Recent accomplishments included improving internal capacity; hiring a director of wetlands and water quality; building the capacity of local organizations to promote wetland protection; and working to ensure that the economic viability of the Gulf region is maintained by promoting efforts to protect the region’s fisheries.
